Palmer Luckey’s defense tech company Anduril is partnering with Meta to develop mixed reality headsets for the U.S. military under the Army’s SBMC Next program, combining Meta’s Reality Labs hardware and Llama AI with Anduril’s battlefield software. This collaboration allows Meta to enter the military XR space through Anduril, which took over the SBMC program after Microsoft faced issues with the IVAS project. The headsets, named EagleEye, will provide soldiers with real-time battlefield intelligence using advanced technologies from both companies.
