Three men, Marc-Aurèle Chabot, Simon Angers-Audet, and Raphaël Lagacé, accused of facilitating terrorism in Quebec, will face trial following a direct indictment by the federal Crown prosecutor’s office, bypassing a preliminary inquiry. This indictment allows for additional charges and expedites the case to Superior Court, potentially leading to a trial in 2026. Chabot, identified as the group’s leader, faces severe charges, including instructing individuals for a terrorist group, while a fourth individual, Matthew Forbes, has separate charges and was granted bail. All four men were linked to an alleged anti-government plot involving military members, characterized by police as “ideologically motivated violent extremism.”
