In a case involving the death of eight-year-old Elizabeth Rose Struhs due to withheld diabetes medication, her parents and 12 religious congregation members were found guilty of manslaughter in Queensland’s Supreme Court. The girl’s father, Jason Richard Struhs, and religious group leader Brendan Luke Stevens were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. The defendants, who believed in the healing power of God, were convicted for depriving Elizabeth of necessary insulin, with sentencing scheduled for 11 February.
