Bangladesh’s Meghna Group continues its aggressive approach to acquiring secondhand tonnage in 2025, recently purchasing a modern Japanese-built ultramax bulk carrier from Tokei Kaiun for about $29.2m. This acquisition adds to the four units that joined its Mercantile Shipping Lines fleet last year. With a fleet of nearly 60 vessels, Meghna is also rumored to have acquired another Japanese-built ultramax from Bocimar for $27.6m.
