Washington, DC – Jewish students at Columbia University assert their pro-Palestinian activism is aligned with their faith. On Tuesday, they met with Congress members, sharing their perspectives amid rising anti-Semitism narratives on campuses, particularly highlighted by the protests against Israel’s actions in Gaza. Activists Tali Beckwith-Cohen and Carly Shaffer emphasized solidarity across communities, criticized the misrepresentation of their activism, and condemned the detention of fellow student Mahmoud Khalil, illustrating the intertwining of Jewish identity and advocacy for Palestinian rights.
