Mayoral hopeful wants to stop “band-aid bridge”

Jeff Ryan, an Ashburton mayoral candidate, aims to “make Ashburton great again” by proposing a toll-funded bypass instead of the Government-funded second bridge on State Highway 1. He plans to upgrade the existing bridge, ease congestion, and meet with the Minister of Transport to address concerns about house prices and traffic flows. Ryan, with experience in various fields, including farming and politics, is the first confirmed candidate for the upcoming local elections.
