A federal judge in Los Angeles ruled that Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was not stolen from other songwriters, dismissing a music copyright case and ordering the plaintiffs to pay legal fees. The lawsuit claimed similarities between Carey’s song and one by Andy Stone and Troy Powers, but the judge found no substantial evidence of infringement. Despite sharing holiday-themed phrases, experts determined that the songs had significant differences in music and lyrics, ultimately leading to the case’s dismissal.
