Manly, eight other Sydney northern beaches closed, as more mystery debris balls wash up

Mysterious grey balls found on Sydney’s northern beaches have led to the closure of nine popular beaches, including Manly, with possible origins in sewerage. Water scientist Ian Wright warned of caution, as the debris is similar to previous tar balls composed of human hair and household fats. Sydney Water is investigating the cause of the pollution, while Greens environment spokeswoman Sue Higginson calls for better accountability from utilities like Sydney Water in managing wastewater.
