Minh Quang Pham, who pleaded guilty to federal terrorism charges nine years ago for plotting a suicide bombing at Heathrow Airport in London in support of Al Qaeda’s Yemeni affiliate, was sentenced to 44 years in prison. Pham received military training in Yemen from Anwar al-Awlaki, a leader of the Al Qaeda affiliate, before planning the bombing. Despite initially being sentenced to 40 years in prison in 2016, his conviction was vacated and he entered a second guilty plea in May 2023, leading to his sentencing on Tuesday in Federal District Court in Manhattan.
