An alleged paedophile, Scott Proudlock, died in a crash on the A64 near York just hours before his court appearance on charges of assaulting a girl under 13 and making indecent photos. His van collided with a parked lorry, leading to an eight-hour road closure; the HGV driver was unharmed and police are seeking witnesses.
