In Kwa-Thema, Banele Skosana, an off-duty EMPD officer, was fatally shot while offloading stock for his tuck shop, with witnesses reporting two unknown men opening fire without provocation. Despite nothing being stolen, Skosana was left dead on Vilakazi Street, prompting a murder case to be registered and leading to the arrest of a suspect at Kwa-Thema Hostel who confessed to the crime and surrendered the murder weapon, a revolver with erased serial numbers. The suspect faces charges of murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and live ammunition.
