An eight-year-old boy, Jay Cartmell, was shot and killed while participating in a rabbit hunt on a farm near Warcop, Cumbria, on September 28, 2024. He sustained severe head and facial injuries and died later that day in the hospital. Allan Thursby, 64, has been charged with gross negligence manslaughter in connection to the incident and is scheduled to appear in Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on March 26. Jay’s parents described him as a loving and adventurous child.
