The United States Coast Guard rescued a man and his dog from a disabled sailboat taking on water 25 miles off of Sanibel Island as Hurricane Helene approached. The sailor and his canine were stranded with no nearby help when the Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater responded to the distress call. The man and his dog were safely brought back to shore, avoiding a potentially dangerous situation at sea.

The USS Harry S. Truman lost an F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter jet while towing it in the Red Sea, resulting in the aircraft slipping off the hangar deck on Monday. The crew members evacuated safely with one minor injury reported, and an investigation is underway.
