Man, 20, charged with terrorism and hoax threat to blow up his local Asda

A 20-year-old man, Ilyas Akhtar, has been charged with terrorism offences, including preparing acts of terrorism, possessing terrorist-related information, and carrying out two arson attacks in Slough, following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing South East. The arson incidents occurred at the Salt Hill Activity Centre and Slough Ice Arena, while a bomb hoax was reported at an Asda supermarket. Akhtar remains in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, with local police increasing patrols to reassure the community.
