Mali Claims Death of Islamic State Terrorist Who Helped Lead Ambush in Niger

Mali announced on Monday that they had successfully eliminated a high-value Islamist commander who played a key role in a 2017 attack that resulted in the deaths of four American and four Nigerien soldiers, as well as an interpreter.

The U.S. State Department had offered a $5 million reward for the capture of the commander, known as Abu Huzeifa, who was a member of an Islamic State affiliate.
