Beginning May 7, American travelers must present a REAL ID to pass TSA checkpoints for domestic flights, as state-issued IDs are no longer accepted. Although 81% of travelers have obtained REAL IDs, around 20% still lack them, potentially leading to confusion and longer wait times; however, alternative IDs like passports and tribal identification remain valid. Officials assure that measures are in place to minimize delays, and those without REAL IDs may face extra screening or be directed to different lines.
