Rwanda-backed M23 fighters resume attacks in DR Congo after two-day pause

The M23 rebels have resumed attacks in eastern DRC, striking near Ihusi and advancing on South Kivu, despite calls for a ceasefire. Displaced people flee as violence escalates, with over 500,000 displaced this year alone. In Ituri province, CODECO fighters kill at least 35 civilians in an attack on the Djaiba villages, with reports suggesting up to 50 may have been killed.
