The Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is set to acquire a minority stake in Swansea City.
The 39-year-old Croatia captain, whose contract expires at the season’s end, is making his debut in football ownership, although his motivations remain unclear. Swansea, currently 12th in the Championship under caretaker coach Alan Sheehan, has shown improvement with 17 points from nine matches, and Sheehan is a strong candidate for the permanent role. Modric’s involvement follows other recent changes in Swansea’s management, including a new chief executive and director of football.
