Lucy Letby, a nurse at Countess of Chester Hospital, did not murder seven babies as previously convicted, according to a panel of 14 neonatologists who presented new medical evidence suggesting natural causes and “bad medical care” were to blame. The panel, led by Canadian professor Dr Shoo Lee, found no evidence of deliberate harm in the cases, stating that deaths and injuries were due to natural causes or medical errors. Letby’s lawyers have applied for a review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission based on this new evidence, potentially leading to a reconsideration of her convictions by the Court of Appeal.
