A Louisiana mother of three, Lesli Smith, was honored for helping Sgt. Jeff Kahrs during a shoplifting pursuit at a Slidell Dillard’s store. After the suspect, Kelsey Baird, attempted to flee in a getaway car driven by her boyfriend, Smith offered Kahrs a ride, allowing him to assist in the chase. Both suspects were later arrested and charged with theft, with Baird also facing meth possession charges. Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau praised Smith’s quick action, presenting her with a Citizenship Award for her support.
