The chief of the Longueuil police allegedly provided false information regarding the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Nooran Rezayi to Quebec’s police watchdog, prompting Mayor Catherine Fournier to request an investigation by the public security minister. Rezayi was shot in September while reportedly unarmed, and the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) has confirmed no firearm was found. Emails revealed delays in notifying the BEI, with the police conducting their own investigation instead. Fournier expressed concerns over the police’s actions, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability.
