‘Live-fire drills’: China conducts second day of war games around Taiwan

China’s military conducted “live-fire” drills around Taiwan, simulating attacks on high-value targets such as ports and energy facilities as part of operation “Strait Thunder-2025A”. The drills aimed to test troops’ capabilities in blockade, control, and precision strikes, with the Shandong aircraft carrier deployed to demonstrate naval and air power integration. Taiwan condemned the drills, as China deployed 76 military aircraft and 19 ships near the island, with the exercises expected to continue until Thursday night.
