Vienna’s Christmas season kicked off with the lighting of a giant decorated tree in town hall square, accompanied by mulled wine, gingerbread cookies, and music. Mayor Michael Ludwig participated in the ceremony, which featured a 30-meter spruce adorned with 2,000 LED lights and 1,000 baubles. The city’s Christmas markets, including one at Schoenbrunn Castle, will be open until Dec. 26, with the town hall and Schoenbrunn markets extending until Jan. 6.
