A recount in the Quebec riding of Terrebonne has resulted in Tatiana Auguste of the Liberal party winning by a single vote against Bloc Québécois incumbent Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné, bringing the Liberals to 170 MPs in the House of Commons. Auguste, a first-time candidate originally from Haiti, has a background in economics and community involvement, having served as a political attaché and in various community organizations. Expressing her happiness over the narrow victory, she acknowledged the division in the community and pledged to work for all constituents, regardless of their political choice.
