LAUSD shows strong standardized testing gains, but proficiency still low

Los Angeles public school students showed improvement in math and English standardized test scores, surpassing state improvements but still falling below state standards overall. Despite gains in proficiency rates for English learners and students with disabilities, the majority of students in these groups are still not proficient. Graduation rates have increased, but older students continue to struggle, possibly due to pandemic-related challenges. While progress has been made, there is still a long way to go to reach strong academic performance levels in California.
