Divers Discover Old Mystery While Searching for Shipwreck Near Toronto
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A Canadian dive team investigating the wreck of the Rapid City may have discovered a previously undisturbed shipwreck potentially dating back to the early 19th century. Initially thought to be the Rapid City, the vessel showed remarkable preservation with both masts intact, leading archaeologist James Conolly to suggest it could be 50 to 100 years older than expected based on its design features. This find offers a rare opportunity to explore a poorly documented period of Great Lakes shipbuilding. Further research is needed to confirm the vessel’s age and historical significance.
