Months of tension among taxi drivers at Queenstown Airport escalated when Magan Vashisht, known as Thappi, threatened another driver’s wife, stating he would “smash her teeth in,” which left her extremely frightened. Vashisht faced a judge-alone trial before Judge Andrée Wiltens for two charges: threatening to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening to injure. These charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 21, 2024, in the airport’s taxi staging area.
