Kosovo's Turkish minority minister charged with assault, complicating Cabinet formation

Kosovo’s Turkish minority Cabinet minister, Fikrim Damka, has been charged with physical assault following last month’s election, where Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s party fell short of a majority. Damka allegedly attacked two individuals from a rival party on election day due to critical social media posts. With ongoing appeals delaying final results, forming a new governing coalition remains uncertain in the aftermath of Kosovo’s declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008.
