King Charles III ends first Australian visit by reigning British monarch in 13 years

King Charles III recently concluded his first Australian visit by a reigning British monarch in 13 years. The visit was not without controversy, as Indigenous senator Lidia Thorpe expressed her disapproval of Charles as her king. Despite large crowds turning out to see the king and Queen Camilla, the Australian Republic Movement continues to advocate for an Australian citizen to replace the British monarch as Australia’s head of state.
