Kenzie Smith, the Oakland man who gained nationwide attention after a white woman called the police on him for barbecuing in a public park, has tragically passed away at the age of 43.
Smith, also known as the “BBQ Becky” incident, brought to light the issue of racial profiling and discrimination that many people of color face on a daily basis.
His legacy will live on as a reminder of the importance of standing up against injustice and fighting for equality for all.
