Keir Starmer and several members of his Cabinet, including Angela Rayner, Rachel Reeves, and Wes Streeting, failed to vote on an amendment calling for a national inquiry into grooming gangs, despite instructing their MPs to vote against it. Downing Street cited a “pre-existing diary commitment” for the absences, but it was noted as unusual for so many senior government officials to miss such an important vote. This comes after Tory leader Kemi Badenoch warned the prime minister against forcing MPs to vote against an inquiry into the scandal of grooming gangs.
