Kari Lake and Arizona county election official reach settlement in defamation case

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer settled a defamation case against Kari Lake, who falsely accused him of sabotaging the 2022 Arizona governor’s race after losing. Richer sought damages for false claims that led to threats against his family. Lake, an ally of Trump, launched a failed Senate bid and Richer lost his reelection bid in the Republican primary for county recorder.
