Amanda Gallagher, a 37-year-old professional photographer, tragically lost her life after accidentally backing into a plane’s spinning propeller while taking photos at a skydiving event in Kansas. The incident occurred at the Derby landing site outside of Wichita while she was capturing images of skydivers mid-flight. Gallagher violated safety procedures by moving in front of the plane’s wing, resulting in the fatal accident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident to determine any additional factors.
