Election 2026: National Party Lags Labour on Cost-of-Living Issues

The National Party is narrowing the gap with Labour in New Zealand’s political landscape, particularly regarding the cost-of-living issue. An Ipsos NZ Issues Monitor survey reveals Labour leads or ties on 15 of 20 key concerns, while National is seen as capable on just three. Additionally, the government’s performance rating has slightly improved to 4.2 out of 10, up from 3.9 in October, as the November election approaches.
