Just Stop Oil activists deface Charles Darwin’s grave inside Westminster Abbey

Two Just Stop Oil activists were arrested for defacing Charles Darwin’s grave at Westminster Abbey with chalk spray, writing “1.5 is Dead” in reference to global warming exceeding the 1.5C target. The protestors, including former council CEO Di Bligh, stated that the act was a symbol of the world’s bleak future and the ongoing mass extinction. The Metropolitan Police arrested the pair for suspected criminal damage with powdered paint, while Westminster Abbey’s conservators are working to clean the memorial without permanent damage.
