The family of Da’Karia Spicer, who was fatally struck by a Mercedes fleeing Chicago police in 2020, was awarded nearly $80 million by a Cook County jury. Da’Karia was killed in the crash, and her 5-year-old brother was severely injured. Braintree man pleads guilty after using dead teen’s identity for years – including to become a firefighter
Truong Nguyen, a Braintree man, pleaded guilty to passport fraud and aggravated identity theft for stealing the identity of a deceased teenager to obtain certifications and a job with the Melrose Fire Department. Nguyen used the teen's identity to obtain a Massachusetts driver's license, Social Security card, EMT certifications, and attended the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
