Julian Assange has been released after striking a deal with the US government to plead guilty in a court on a remote Pacific island. The WikiLeaks founder had been confined in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for seven years before being arrested in 2019. His release marks the end of a long legal battle and a new chapter for Assange.
