Judge scolds barrister for using ‘made-up cases’ in her court arguments

A High Court judge condemned barrister Sarah Forey and her team from Haringey Law Centre for submitting five fabricated case citations in support of a homeless man’s housing claim against Haringey Council. The judge, Mr Justice Ritchie, criticized their conduct as “grossly unprofessional” and misleading, asserting that the errors could not merely be classified as minor. He ordered the ruling to be reported to regulatory bodies and stated that the team would have likely won the case if not for the inclusion of fake citations, ultimately ruling in favor of the homeless man while imposing wasted costs on Forey’s team.
