A federal judge in Manhattan, Paul A. Engelmayer, is requesting additional details from the Justice Department regarding its intention to unseal records from Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking case. The DOJ has asked to release grand jury records and discovery materials as part of compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandates public access to such files by December 19. Engelmayer has set deadlines for victims and Maxwell to respond to this request, with a ruling to follow soon after. Maxwell, convicted in 2021 for her role in Epstein’s crimes, is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
