A federal judge has dismissed part of a lawsuit concerning the fatal shooting of Robert Dotson, 52, by police at the wrong address during a domestic violence call in Farmington, New Mexico. The court found that officers acted reasonably given the immediate threat Dotson posed by pointing a firearm at them, granting them qualified immunity. The Dotson family’s lawsuit will continue on other claims, as they argue the police did not provide sufficient time to comply with commands and were at the wrong location.
