Josep Borrell, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, visited Seoul to discuss increasing the EU’s security and defense partnership with South Korea, co-chairing the first Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul. The meetings are expected to address shared concerns over North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia in support of its actions in Ukraine, with discussions also planned with Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun. Borrell emphasized the interconnected security challenges facing Europe and the Indo-Pacific region amidst rising geopolitical tensions and challenges to international law.
