SINGAPORE: Meta blocked three articles from online publication Jom for unauthorized third-party paid online election advertising (OEA) during the election period, as they criticized or praised political parties. The Ministry of Digital Development and Information clarified that only authorized entities may publish paid OEA, and Jom’s articles remain accessible on its website despite the ban on promoting them via Meta. Jom expressed concern over its ability to leverage social media for growth, emphasizing the importance of transparency in election advertising regulations.
