No one in Western Australia seems to care about the King’s birthday, as they prefer to enjoy the long weekend. Premier Roger Cook is proposing to align public holidays with the Eastern States, potentially increasing them from 11 to 13, including a new weekday holiday in September, for which the purpose is yet to be determined, inviting public feedback until August 8.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5: Western Australia is thinking about changing some of its public holidays, like moving the King’s Birthday celebration to June and adding a new holiday in September, but many people just want to enjoy their time off at the beach or with friends instead of worrying about why they have a day off.
