Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi stated the move aligns with G7 efforts to strengthen sanctions against Russia, with 11 individuals, 29 organizations, and three banks from Russia added to an asset freeze list, and total export bans imposed on 22 Russian military-related organizations. The sanctions aim to prevent Russia from evading sanctions with help from third countries and include restrictions on exporting materials that could bolster Russia’s industrial base, in line with Japan’s commitment to global peace and resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
