A police officer and a former officer have filed a lawsuit to challenge the placement of a plaque honoring law enforcement who defended the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021, riot. They argue that the plaque’s location, installed at 4 a.m. in a “hidden” area, violates the law requiring it to be publicly displayed. The lawsuit, naming the architect of the Capitol, contends that the memorial should be on the Capitol’s western front, as mandated by law.
