A Calgary man, Jamal Taan Borhot, 35, was found guilty of terrorism offences after a judge determined he fought for ISIS during his 11 months in Syria from May 2013 to April 2014. Evidence included travel documents, intercepted calls, and Facebook messages showcasing his recruitment efforts and extremist beliefs. Following the verdict, his bail was revoked, and a sentencing hearing will occur later. His cousin, Hussein Borhot, previously pleaded guilty to similar charges and received a 12-year sentence.
