A junior physiotherapist at an Auckland hospital improperly accessed the files of gunshot and stabbing victims, as well as sensitive information regarding organ transplant patients and an overdose case, totaling 44 files. None of these individuals were his patients, and many of the accesses occurred outside of work hours. Among the accessed files, three were classified as “high priority,” including one related to a fatal stabbing. His unauthorized actions prompted a broader audit of all files he had accessed during his employment.
