The Italian men’s water polo team has been suspended for six months and fined $50,000 for verbally and physically abusing referees and officials after their quarter-final loss to Hungary at the Paris Olympics. Coach Alessandro Campagna led the protest following a VAR decision and admitted to violating the World Aquatics integrity code. The team’s suspension will end in April, allowing them to compete in the World Aquatics Championships in July.
