Italy sends more migrants to Albania for processing following court rejections

An Italian navy ship arrived in Albania with 49 migrants intercepted in international waters for processing at special Albanian centers, following previous hurdles from Italian courts. The migrants, from Bangladesh, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Gambia, will undergo asylum applications in Albania after judges ruled their countries of origin were unsafe for repatriation. Italy’s government aims to reactivate the centers in Albania despite legal challenges, with a European Court of Justice hearing scheduled for February.
