Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited Rome on Thursday, where a detained Iranian businessman, Mohammad Abedini, was released after being arrested in Milan for alleged involvement in a drone attack that killed American service members. Italy revoked Abedini’s arrest following a U.S. extradition request, leading to his safe return to Tehran. The release came after an Italian journalist, Cecilia Sala, was also freed in Iran, sparking speculation of diplomatic negotiations involving Meloni, Iran, and the U.S.
